Happy national coffee day! To celebrate, I’d love to share some at-home cold brew coffee I’ve been trying, and at the end of this post, I’ll share which one is my favorite so far. But stay tuned, because there are so many more cold brew options to try, so I’ll let you know if I find a new fave.
Of note, I prefer to add some milk to my cold brew for flavor, and tried to get the plain coffee version for consistency in my cold brew taste test, but there are lots of fun flavored cold brews that I can’t wait to try as well. So let’s get started with the review…
My local Upper East Side (UES) grocery store has a great cold crew; I love supporting local small businesses when I can. The flavor is good, but I would love there to be a bit more caffeine! If you’re on the UES I highly recommend going to Ouri’s for great groceries, coffee, and more.
I got this Chameleon cold brew from Whole Foods, and paired it with this most delicious breakfast from Pop-up bagels and Zabars lox. This is one of my favorite breakfasts. The cold brew here was pretty good, and I really like that it is organic and in a glass container!
I got this from my local health food store, and it was good, but a bit too sweet for me, so I’d love to try another flavor sometime. Bonus points for organic!
I love lots of things from TJ’s, but this cold brew flavor was not my favorite. I heard their pumpkin cold brew flavor was good, so looking forward to giving that a try sometime.
This NOLA cold brew from Blue Bottle has one of my favorite flavors from all of the cold brews I’ve tried here. I picked this up from my local Blue Bottle store here in NYC. I like their coffee in general, but there did not seem to be as much caffeine in this cold brew, so I had to find a way to make this cold brew wake me up, which led me to creating the next cold brew at home…
I paired this Stumptown cold brew with the Blue Bottle cold brew because Stumptown had what felt like more caffeine but not the best flavor, and Blue Bottle had the best flavor but not the most caffeine.
Of note, I’ve loved Stumptown for a long time - I wrote about their coffee back in 2011 (!!!) on my coffee blog 1.0 Del Mocha Vista here. I think I’ll stick to the mochas at Stumptown!
#1 Coldbrew - Wandering Bear
Wandering Bear is my #1 favorite at home cold brew at this time. The flavor and the caffeine content are the best. It’s organic and I found this at my local health food store on the UES, A Matter of Health (highly recommend), but I see they sell this at larger grocery stores like Whole Foods as well.
This was fun! I hope this was helpful if you are like me and love trying different at-home cold brews.
Where should I go to try coffee next time? I’d love to know your favorite coffee, and why!
Quite helpful
